According to the preliminary schedule we have obtained, the new pavilion should be completed in December 2026 and the complete layout of all the different blocks of the hospital will be completed by the end of 2028.
The emergency unit will also be able to accommodate a larger number of users.
“In terms of emergency, we go from nine to twelve stretchers. It is still quite important. At the level of the hospitalization unit, we go from 36 total beds to 42 total beds, ”explains Manon Demers, assistant director of physical health services in Charlevoix.
The increase in construction costs is not expected to affect the new services that will be offered at the hospital.
The final cost of the project will not be known until 2023. Note, however, that in 2019, the work was valued at $ 255 million, including the expansion of the Félix-Antoine-Savard elementary school.
