La Línea celebrates the Sports Gala this Thursday | Gift

The line of conception

The second edition of the Gala of the Deporte Linowill be held next Thursday, October 20, at 19:00, at the Sala Levante of the Palacio de Congresosevent consolidated in the annual sports calendar of the Municipality, with an express recognition to the athletes of La Linea and to the entities that have collaborated with the Municipality for the promotion of sport.

Giovanni Franco, Mayor of La Lineahe declared himself very satisfied and congratulated all the winners, “who are a point of reference for the rest of the athletes in the city to see themselves reflected in them”, as well as thanking the various sponsors for their collaboration.

For its part, the Councilor for Sport, Javier Vidal, highlighted the organization of this gala, which resumed after the pandemic, congratulating all the candidates, by the Municipal Sports Council, whose decision was defined quite positive.

The prizes are as follows:

Junior female athlete: María del Mar Gallardo Lobato. Spanish champion of Kate Surf.

Best Male Athlete: William Frederik Monsees. World champion in Olympic shooting.

Sports institution: Linense Ball. This club has worked with sports and minors, currently having more than twenty competing teams.

Best technical team: Sports management and technical team of the Club Marítimo Linense.

Athletes of greatest national and international projection: Diego Garcia Garcia and Paula Gianina Pecino.

Team of the competition: Club Lemus Ham

Promising athlete: Enrique Durán Macías, of Club Lemus Ham, Spanish Taekwondo champion.

Adapted federated sports: Asansull Sports Club and Sports Club 1970.

Best Veteran Athlete: Mónica Falgueras Velázquez, triathlete with several national and military awards.

Promotion of grassroots sports: Colegio Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes.

Promoting Sport for Equality: Geiko Judo Sports Club.

Local sport: Bolivia FC. Recently established women’s football club, committed to the recovery of this sport, currently competing with its senior team.

Special mentions and awards: José Antonio Morente Oliva, Jesús Barragán Delgado, Andalusian and Spanish Basketball Federations and Spanish Rowing Federation.

Javier Vidal highlighted the important commitment to the city of these federations. In the case of rowing, as the city has been chosen as the site of several Andalusian championships and, in the last two years, with events at national level, and basketball for the commitment of the Spanish and Andalusian federations, hosting in several Andalusian Championships in the common in the last eight years and throughout 2022, with the presence of several national teams and the ACB Andalusian Cup.
