Pain got worse for the Barcelona coach when he received a red card in overtime.
After a draw against Grananda at home in the previous round, the pressure on Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman has been enormous in recent days.
Some reports have it that the club management has already decided to fire the Dutchman and Thursday’s result probably does not exactly help.
– Thanks for tonight, Ronald Koeman! Then we will see if he continues in Barcelona or if the pressure is too great on him, said TV 2 commentator Peder Mørtvedt.
– Cruel
It was another frustrating night for the Catalans away against Cadiz. Koeman’s men were unable to find the nets during the match and it ended goalless.
– It was a cruel match for a very long time, but then it picked up in the end. But Barcelona was bad, says TV 2 expert Simen Stamsø Møller.
– The first half is some of the worst I have seen of Barcelona, he says.
Thus, Barcelona fans must endure another disappointing result in La Liga.
It did not help that Frenkie de Jong was sent off in the second half, which led to the home team being more involved in the match throughout the round.
Memphis Depay and the other Barcelona players still desperately chased a victory in the final minutes, but it would not be against a sacrificial home team.
The result means that Barcelona only have nine points after the first five rounds in the Spanish top division. The club has only won two games so far.
Up to Real Madrid as leader, there have already been seven points.
Red card to Koeman
Coach Koeman has recently also stirred up both supporters and the press with some strange statements and at a press conference recently he only read out a finished text, without taking questions from the journalists present.
The Dutchman asked for time to reverse the negative trend the club is experiencing.
After Thursday’s match, however, it is asked if he gets that much of that time from the club’s management. There are many indications that the coach is living on borrowed time.
Far into overtime, Koeman also received a red card for his behavior on the sidelines.
