La Libertad, Peru – In a significant victory for public health, the La Libertad region in Peru is setting a national example by achieving some of the highest vaccination rates against measles and polio.
More than 165,000 young children in the region received an extra dose of the MMR vaccine, which protects against measles, mumps, and rubella. "La Libertad is reaching 90 percent of the national vaccination goal for measles and 89 percent for polio," Regional Health Manager Aníbal Morillo Arqueros proudly stated during a recent vaccination drive.
