The green on the epidemiological traffic light, in force since last Monday, did not discourage people from 40 to 49 years of age to go to be vaccinated in the Álvaro Obregón, Tlalpan and Tláhuac mayors, who began to receive their first dose of the biological Astra-Zeneca, while the residents of Miguel Hidalgo got the Pfizer-BioNTech.
Before 7 in the morning there were already lines of the call generation X outside the Campo Marte, without any agglomerations, so the inoculation began at 8 o’clock.
Doctors and nurses from the Mexican Institute of Social Security were in charge of the application, while they placed and showed the citizens of the capital the new syringe, they reminded those in their forties to maintain sanitary measures, since the objective is to cut the chain of infections.
Adrián Calera, a resident of the Escandón neighborhood, said he feels safer and more protected when receiving the biological and agrees that it is about breaking contagions and reducing mortality in the population.
Fernando Abadía –who lives in Polanco and sent photos by WhatsApp to their parents– said that “vaccines are very efficient, that helps the country to reduce infections and everyone should get them. I didn’t think it was possible to get vaccinated. The truth is I’m very happy”.
Brothers Daniel and David Bretón, from the Pensil neighborhood, came and went together, they also took photos and even said they felt in better spirits.
Several residents of the state of Mexico and of the Cuauhtémoc and Iztapalapa mayors came to the row of special cases, “because they are looking for Pfizer,” said a volunteer.
Yesterday they also applied the first doses for people with more than 60 years and 50 laggards, such as a Chilean couple who recently obtained their residency, as well as women with more than nine weeks of pregnancy.
Government workers and the Chapultepec Forest confessed to feeling more relaxed than a few months ago, “because we could not cope” with the support of golf carts and wheelchairs for the elderly, which yesterday were in excess.
