In a talk about Walter Esau’s new project, it is inevitable to repeatedly mention Walter’s old band: Negro, a group that reached on Spotify with the song Friends, 2 million 667 thousand 169 visits and with Brunette one million 451 thousand 916. Despite these figures, the composer and singer has decided to start a new musical project, which bears his first name: Walter Esau. “A few months ago I made the change and I hope that people adopt it for the better.” He says from the outset, however, he clarifies, “leaving behind the millions of views made me very nervous, but they are finally numbers, and I try not to affect me so much, although many things are governed from that and it scared me, but Fortunately, technology allows us to conserve our plays and make the name change to my profile; I didn’t know how, but I’m relearning. “
Very dark stage
His history as a musician and composer began five years ago when he lived in Mexico City, shortly after he returned to Morelia where he continued composing. Says Walter: “and I gave shape to the band. Black was a part of me in a very dark stage. That path lasted a few years, but it grew brighter and it was time to use my name. I feel that at this stage, although I continue with the same ideology and the same lyrics, I have already digested several things and the only and real thing in this project is that it remains sincere and as honest as possible. “
To give strength to this new journey, it has already been presented live and also has dates scheduled for November: Toluca, Querétaro, Puebla and closes in Morelia alternating with Ed Maverick “because there is more exposure; although I think it is a more difficult date, since you have to compress and only choose five / six songs that are the most representative of our project and see how the public takes it. “
This tour marks the debut of Walter Esau as a soloist. “The pandemic changed several things in my head and we are starting over after a year and a half without going on tour. I feel like I’m a first-timer: stages make me nervous, go out to play and see how people respond to the name change. But it is the same essence and we are valuing this return a lot and we will try to leave a hundred in each show”
