President Andrés Manuel López Obrador criticized that the dissident teachers want to silence him so that he does not express in the mornings that the educational problems and the situation of teachers in the country are resolved.
“There is an organization that was closely linked to us, but like in all organizations there are currents, and there are some who do not love us and brought me their petition. They put me in a position where I do not speak in the mornings about the issues,” she explained at the conference this Thursday at the National Palace.
This after the meeting he had last Monday with the leadership of the National Coordinator of Education Workers (CNTE), who demanded that the head of the Executive comply with their labor demands.
The president questioned why the dissident teachers had demanded that he not talk about issues related to education.
“But they came, and I’m not talking about a right-wing, conservative organization, no! I’m talking about a progressive, democratic organization. And they put me in a point on the request list that I do not speak in the mornings about the issues”
And he added: “Imagine! How are we not going to talk, we have to talk about everything, because justice is not only the punishment of those responsible, justice is prevention, so that acts of corruption and authoritarianism are not repeated.”
Upon resuming dialogue with the federal government, the CNTE indicated that it maintains the call for a work stoppage on April 15.
In addition, a 12-point petition was delivered to President López Obrador, including a 100 percent salary increase, repeal of the ISSSTE Law, reinstatement of the table with the parents of Ayotzinapa, as well as reinstatement of dismissed teachers.
