Mexico City. The Secretary of Health, Jorge Alcocer Varela, met with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Mexico, Corin Robertson, where he recognized the response of authorities from the AstraZeneca laboratory, for providing the vaccine against COVID-19 to several Latin American countries.
“The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic took the whole world by surprise, however, vaccination has given all nations a break,” said Alcocer Varela.
In her speech, Ambassador Corin Robertson thanked the team of the Ministry of Health for their support and collaboration to work together in different areas, especially those derived from the pandemic. “For us it has been an important and beneficial collaboration to strengthen our health system,” he said.
He indicated his interest in continuing to expand the bilateral collaboration and that some issues identified are the response to COVID-19, vaccination, monitoring, resilience, mental health and research.
He stressed that the United Kingdom has a particular interest in the policies implemented by the Mexican government to control obesity, so the idea is to strengthen cooperation work.
