La Jornada – More than 15 million Mexicans have received the Covid vaccine

Mexico City. Mexico has already exceeded 15 million people who have received at least one dose of vaccines against Covid-19, the Ministry of Health reported this Saturday.

José Luis Alomía Zegarra, general director of Epidemiology, indicated in a virtual press conference that on Friday 453 thousand 586 were applied, with which 15 million 261 thousand 62 people have received at least one dose of immunizers.

In total, 10 million 412 thousand 991 people already have complete vaccination schedules, he added when presenting the daily report on the evolution of the epidemic in Mexico.

Santa Elizabeth Ceballos Liceaga, director of the Epidemiological Surveillance of Communicable Diseases, explained that there have been a regrettable accumulated of 220 thousand 380 deaths due to the disease, 221 more than the day before. In addition, it is estimated that there are 19 thousand 299 active cases in the country and that one million 899 thousand 742 people have overcome the disease.

He added that although the reports indicate that there is a decrease in the activity of the epidemic, this does not mean that the guard can be lowered. “The pandemic continues, both in our country and in the rest of the world. It is therefore important to remember the basic measures to prevent the spread of the disease: the use of face masks, the respiratory label, the healthy distance and the home protection ”.

Alomía explained that from December to date 29 million 163 thousand 275 doses of vaccines have arrived in the country or that they have been packaged in the national territory. And that this week 2 million 69 thousand 590 doses of vaccines were received.
