La Jornada – If at 60 “you haven’t been able to make a fortune, you’re really cool”: Gálvez

Atizapan, Edomex. The presidential candidate of the coalition between the PAN, PRI and PRD, Xóchitl Gálvez, said this Thursday that “if at the age of 60 you have not been able to make a fortune, you are very cool.”

When attacking her opponent again, the candidate of Let’s Keep Making History (Morena, PT and PVEM), Claudia Sheinbaum, the opposition standard-bearer referred to the questions that the Morenista asked her in the first presidential debate about the origin of his heritage.

After Sheinbaum explained that she lives in a rented house, Gálvez has expressed on different occasions that she would promote policies to facilitate the acquisition of housing, but when insisting on her position, she said that “we want women to be independent, that they women have their own assets. By the way, (Sheinbaum) told me that I live in my own house and that she lives in a rented apartment, if at 60 you haven’t been able to build an estate, you’re really cool, with all due respect.”

During a rally that she led this morning in the Mexican municipality of Naucalpan, she argued that she has “32 years of being an honest, ethical businesswoman. I have not stolen a peso from anyone, one can work, working is not a crime,” and she once again defended the contracts obtained by the company that, she insisted, belongs to her husband.

The woman from Hidalgo also accused that Morena is seeking to “loot” the pension funds through an initiative in the Congress of the Union.

From the beginning of his message to Mexican sympathizers, he asserted that the cherry party seeks to put forward this proposal because “it knows that Congress is going to lose.”

He indicated that “they want to keep their pensions once they turn 70, it’s that easy. If for some reason you continue working, your money will automatically go to a pension fund they call Welfare, that is the looting that Morena wants to do at this moment in Congress and we are not going to allow it, we are not going to “allowing people aged 70 and over to be deprived of how much it cost them to earn a living.”

Later, in an interview in Atizapán, he added that he is concerned about this initiative because the government would be using private money. “Morena, since she has already used up all the funds and since she wants to continue using Mexicans’ money, she is now going for pensions and what she is proposing is very dangerous,” said Gálvez.
