La Jornada – EU Inversora acquires Premier League Burnley

London. Burnley’s club, currently ranked 16th in the Premier League table, announced on Thursday that it was acquired by the US group ALK Capital.

“The Burnley Football Club confirms that Velocity Sports Partners (VSP), the sports investment arm of the management company ALK Capital, acquires a majority stake in the club,” said the Clarets in a statement posted on its website.

Anglo-American Alan Pace, associate director of ALK Capital, henceforth the 84 percent owner of Burnley, succeeds Mike Garlick as new president.

Pace assured on the club’s page, that he is living his fifth consecutive season in the Premier League, that he is a “very, very fan” of coach Sean Dyche, in charge of the Clarets since 2012, and that he is willing to strengthen the team during the transfer market in January.

Pace has previously managed Real Salt Lake in MLS, the United States and Canada soccer championships.
