Panama. The initiative promoted by the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) since December 6 to alleviate the stress caused by confinement by Covid-19 reached more than 20 Panamanian townships this Saturday.
Christmas by Road is the name that identifies this project, which has the participation of at least twenty local artists, who from different musical genres and through a truck adapted as a stage offer the people the best of their talent in the communities.
According to MiCultura, these Christmas posadas are part of the Panama Solidario Plan, implemented by the government since the end of March to help the people most affected by the pandemic with food and money.
In recent statements to the press, the Chief of Cabinet of the Superior Office of MiCultura, Opal de Ycaza, assured that the idea of the activity is to bring joy and hope in difficult times.
Until January 6, the public will be able to enjoy the shows, but from their sidewalks and / or balconies, keeping biosafety measures such as physical distancing, use of masks and alcoholic gel, he said.
The initiative also includes special programming through the State Radio and Television System and the social networks of MiCultura, which on Christmas Eve had as special protagonists the Polyphonic Choir and the National Ballet with the play Nutcracker, from the National Theater.
While yesterday, the concert program featured the presentation of the National Symphony and lyrical voices from the Cathedral Basilica Metropolitana Santa María La Antigua, episcopal seat of the Archdiocese of Panama, in addition to a virtual gala with national bands.
In the opinion of Maru Gálvez, national director of Creative Economy, this proposal seeks to deliver quality educational and artistic content to the community for free, in the midst of the current stage of family confinement to stop the vertiginous advance of Covid-19 in the country.
