Mexico City. A man and a woman who stole merchandise from a Coppel store in Iztapalapa, including bicycles and scooters, were detained by police from the capital, after the alleged thieves who offered the products on social networks were followed, reported the local Secretariat of Citizen Security.
The detainees were identified as Karen Janeth G, who on her Facebook profile offered the merchandise, as well as second-hand objects, in addition to the man who said his name was Julio César G.
For example, the subjects offered a Zigna-brand mountain bike on social networks for 4,500 pesos when the price of it was 4,699.
Karen Janeth and Julio César, who apparently belong to a criminal group possibly dedicated to robbing homes and businesses, were arrested when they delivered a scooter supposedly stolen in the Barrio San Lucas neighborhood.
The arrest was in follow-up to the robbery that occurred on December 20 in a warehouse of the Coppel store, located on Gavilán avenue, Barrio San Miguel neighborhood, as part of the Operation Day of the Kings 2022.
With the support of surveillance cameras, the van where the stolen objects were allegedly transported was located on January 3, in the Nopalera neighborhood, on Tláhuac avenue.
For this reason, the authorities reported that an operation was deployed in the area that resulted in the arrest of three men who were seized 41 doses of marijuana and 17 packages of cocaine, but the investigations continued until a gray vehicle was located. which was allegedly used in the assault on the warehouse.
The investigations located the woman who offered to sell the toys, and when she would deliver a scooter, the capture was made on the Ermita Iztapalapa road and Mendizábal street, in Barrio San Lucas.
The legal representative identified the merchandise and the detainees could not prove legal ownership of the toys.
