Danny mcbride (DM): Thanks for having me. “Den of Thieves” is a classic cops-and-robbers thriller set in Los Angeles. It’s got a gritty, realistic tone and intense action sequences. Gerard Butler stars as Big Nick O’Brien, a hardened Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department detective who’s obsessed with taking down a crew of professional bank robbers led by the cunning Ray Merrimen, played by Pablo Schreiber. It’s a brutal and suspenseful cat-and-mouse game that ends with a shocking twist.
Who’s Back for “Den of Thieves 2: Pantera?”
EP: The first film was a hit. What can we expect from the sequel?
DM: The sequel picks up years after the events of the first film. “Pantera” follows Donnie wilson (O’Shea Jackson Jr.), who has made his way to Europe to plan his next heist. Big Nick O’Brien isn’t about to let him get away that easily and travels to Europe to bring Wilson down. This time around, we’re promised an even bigger scope, higher stakes, and more international intrigue.
EP: Are any of the old favorites return alongside Butler and Jackson Jr.?
DM: I’m happy to confirm that Curtis “50 cent” Jackson reprises his role. His character, Enson, gives us a glimpse into the inner workings of the criminal underworld and plays a key support role.
