Chillán and Chillán Viejo currently have 24 Historical Conservation Properties (ICH), present in their regulatory plans. Buildings with architectural and patrimonial value that, apart from being declared as such, are often unknown by the citizens of the inter-community and the Ñuble Region.
If we understand that knowing the heritage is key to its valuation, there is an outstanding debt with these buildings at a regional level. And that is precisely the starting point of the project “Historical Conservation Properties: virtual tourist guide of the modern heritage of Chillán”, postulated by La Discusión to the 2023 call for the Social Communication Media Fund, whose launch was carried out in dependencies of the media of communication, a building that is also one of the 24 properties declared in the intercommunity.
The ceremony was attended by authorities from Ñuble and guests, including the Government Seremi, Valentina Pradenas, representative of the institution that delivers the resources for the fund, who highlighted the awarding of projects in the three provinces of Ñuble. In addition, regional councilors attended, who are an active part of the evaluation and selection of the projects that are applied for.
During the conference, the director of La Discusión, Francisco Martinic, valued the fund as a tool that makes it possible for the media “to develop proposals like this, which unites the use of technology in search of highlighting the heritage that the intercommunal”.
In turn, the editor of La Discusión and coordinator of the project, Pedro Vicario, highlighted that thanks to the Social Communication Media Fund, the newspaper has been able to develop other related projects, previous years, such as virtual tours of national monuments, being pioneers in the use of drones for journalistic photographs and the development of georeferenced maps with natural and cultural attractions of Ñuble.
The project proposes to create a digital platform for public access with information on each Historic Preservation Property, which allows easy recognition by citizens.
In addition, design digital tourist routes with the Historical Conservation Properties, which become a useful input for chillanejos, chillanvejanos, ñublensinos and tourists who want to visit them.
Also among the objectives is to disseminate the history of the ICHs among the inhabitants of the intercommunity and the region, in addition to their technical characteristics, with the aim of putting them in value and increasing local and regional identity.
