La Cubana’s daily party at the Calderón Theater

The La Cubana company returns to Valladolid these festivities after 14 years. He does it with his ‘Goodbye Arturo’, a comedy full of music and color to “celebrate life and have lived it” through a posthumous tribute to the multifaceted imaginary artist Arturo Cirera Mompou, as explained by its director and author of the work, Jordi Milan, on this proposal that can be enjoyed at the Calderón Theater until Sunday. The show lasts 120 minutes without a break and tickets, which range between 20 and 35 euros, can be purchased at the theater box office, in addition to its website (www.tcalderon.com) or on the phone 983 426 436.

‘Adiós Arturo’ is presented as a comic and colorful funeral dedicated to Arturo Cirera Mompou, an artist who died no less than the 101 year old who left his last wish that his death be “a party” at the Calderón, the city’s main theater where – in this case – he was born in 1918. Thus, this multifaceted character came to the world in Platerías street and trained at the Colegio San José before leaving with his family for Valencia, from where he would later move abroad until he achieved International fame, gives rise to a show that extols “life, live it intensely and have lived.”

For its staging, ‘Adiós Arturo’ features the parrot Ernesto, the deceased’s pet, in addition to the actors Jaume Baucis, Xavi Tena, Toni Torres, Nuria Benet, Àlex González, Babeth Ripoll, Montse Amat, Toni Sans, Edu Ferrés and Virginia Melgar, who distribute up to 80 characters in a show “with surreal touches” that includes public participation.
