Phoenix (AP) – The Los Angeles Clippers averted the end in the finals of the Western Conference and forced a sixth game against the Phoenix Suns.
After three defeats in the first four basketball games, the Clippers scored 116: 102 in Phoenix and shortened the series to 2: 3. In order to maintain the chance of making it into the final series for the championship in the NBA, the Clippers also have to win the home game on Thursday night. Otherwise, the Phoenix Suns will qualify for the finals for the first time since 1993.
The Clippers again showed a good performance without their knee injured star Kawhi Leonard and moved away by ten points in the first quarter. After a weaker third quarter, in which the Suns took the lead for the first time at 62:61, everything seemed to amount to a close final. But the guests, led by the strong Paul George, immediately took control again and increased their lead to 16 points. Every time the Suns drew hope, the Clippers had an answer.
George convinced with 41 points, 13 rebounds and six assists. He has never had more points in a playoff game. “We feel good, we have good coaches and a lot of trust in our organization. We stick together no matter how a game ends. We come out on the field and play for each other,” said Reggie Jackson at ESPN. He came up to 23 points. At the Suns, Devin Booker was the best thrower with 31 points, Chris Paul scored 22 points.
