La Caridad Theater is adorned – Escambray

Finally, Trinidad will once again boast of having a theater like La Caridad, one of the identity cultural institutions of that old town.

More than two decades he had to wait so that when the curtain opened, the best of local, provincial and national culture could be seen in a city, where having a fixed square for the performing arts is one of his great wishes.

In these last days, the building dated 1937 receives the final touches, thanks to the push of many supportive hands that eliminate all traces of capital repair, according to the Facebook posts of Yanny González Hernández, director of Teatro La Trinidad, project that recognizes that space as its main refuge.

This body itself has been a spokesperson on more than one occasion that La Caridad presented a deplorable state for many years as a result of lack of maintenance, the ravages of time and the aftermath of various meteorological phenomena. Hence part of its structure and roof fell apart.

Among the forces that have intervened so that as a phoenix its presence is restored to that theater are the Office of the Curator of the City of Trinidad and Valle de los Ingenios and specialized entities of the Ministry of Culture.

When in January 2021, just 84 years after the first time that the La Caridad Theater was in the news and as a true gift to the 62nd anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution and the 507th birthday of the foundation of the third town of Cuba, it opened its For doors, the challenge will be to maintain a systematic schedule in order to pay for so many needs and absences, as well as not letting it lose by not performing maintenance work, as required by an architectural gem of its kind.
