Cáritas Parroquial de San Diego has received support from the ‘la Caixa’ Foundation and CaixaBank for its ‘School of San Diego’ program, which aims to improve the educational and social development of 223 minors in the San Diego neighborhood. The social entity will receive a financial contribution of 8,000 euros from the ‘la Caixa’ Foundation through CaixaBank.
The ‘School of San Diego’ project is a space for the development of childhood, which is aimed at improving school performance, creating inclusive and cultural leisure spaces and promoting healthy eating habits.
The territorial director of CaixaBank in the Region of Murcia, Olga García, and the parish priest of the Sagrado Corazón de Jesús Parish on which the Cáritas San Diego Social Center depends, Joaquín Ferrando, have expressed their satisfaction with the signing of the agreement. The event was also attended by the head of Social Action at CaixaBank in Murcia, Rosa María Santa Cruz; and, on behalf of Cáritas Parroquial de San Diego, Ángela Tabernero, responsible for the minor’s area, and Miriam López, social worker.
Olga García highlighted “the importance of the social work carried out by Cáritas in the San Diego neighborhood of Cartagena, aimed at meeting the most specific and urgent needs of the elderly, women, the long-term unemployed and, of course, the minors who encounter in the ‘Little School’ a space of its own in which to continue developing educationally and socially ». “For CaixaBank it is essential that the boys and girls who will form tomorrow’s society receive quality education and comprehensive care,” added the territorial director of CaixaBank in the Region of Murcia.
