The crinoline room will begin on Tuesday 1 November a new cycle of theater for adults called ‘La Alternativa’, which brings the viewer closer to the emerging proposals that exist nationally and is composed of nine functions of five companies from different autonomous communities: Extremadura, Canary Islands, Asturias, Valencian Community and Basque Country.
For this cycle, Escena Crinoque serves up a wine again before entering the exhibition, an initiative that is recovering after being suspended due to the pandemic. Thus, an hour before the show, the public will be able to visit its headquarters, located in Isaac Peral Street 9 in Santander.
“La Alternativa” will start next Tuesday at 7:30 pm. “Alakran or the ceremony”, from the company Glauka Producciones (Extremadura), which consists of the story of a love triangle between Paquito “El Santo”, La Cangrejo and Alacrán. The protagonist is a snake charmer who sings, dances and plays to bite the bullets with his life and his memories. Every night Alacrán takes the stage and plays La Cangrejo, which is no longer there. His obsession turns fiction into reality and suddenly a series of characters and ghosts from the past appear who judge him and plead guilty and innocent.
This weekend it will be the turn of the Yolanda G Sobrado Flamenco Dance Company and its team flamenco dance theater ‘Collage’. The show offers a journey through the flamenco styles that most influenced the artistic life of Yolanda G. Sobrado. Thus, on the basis of his own experiences and the imagery of this bailaora, a series of scenes are put together with the idea of saving and reconverting the images. Music, dance, video … are cut, glued and superimposed to compose a multidisciplinary show like a collage.
On November 12 and 13 it will arrive with the Northern Theater Company ‘The maids’, a political theater that speaks of class struggle. In it, two maids try how to kill their mistress, but they can’t. Every day they rehearse the murder, but the only thing they get is to bring to light their hatred, their envy, their contradictions. Finally, through her characters, maid and lady, the one who plays the lady kills the maid.
Afterwards, on November 19th and 20th, the company of the Teatro de lo Inestable will perform ‘migratory birds’. Butterflies and swallows and flamingos have always flown away from the cold, year after year, and whales swim in search of another sea and salmon and trout in search of their rivers. They travel thousands of alloys, through the free paths of air and water. On the other hand, the ways of human exodus are not free.
Finally it will arrive, on the 26th and 27th, ‘The repetition’, from the company Amaia Bono and Damián Montesdeoca, which reflects how “everything repeats itself” in life. “Science can only perceive repeatable phenomena. We know the universe through what it repeats. The heartbeat is a repetition that keeps us alive. We repeat our mistakes. The human being is the only animal that repeats itself when twice they stumble with the same stone. Everything repeats itself. The course repeats itself. The garlic repeats itself. The parrots repeat themselves. The echo repeats itself. The waves repeat themselves. Everything repeats itself. Even Jesus Christ, when he is born again. , repeats itself “.
