Giorgos Kyrtsos described the study of the then Minister of Citizen Protection, Takis Theodorikakos, to announce the “solve” of the Karaivaz murder as a “pre-election fraud” of 2023.
The former MEP refers to the acquittal of the accused in court today.
In a second post on X, he reminds that journalists have been murdered in four EU countries and only in Greece has the murder not been solved.

Theodorikakos, minister of “Citizen Protection” at that time,
had announced in April 2023 the..solving of the Carivaz murder and the arrest of two suspects.
It thus served the pre-election needs of the government.
He also delivered lessons to his critics saying (28/4/23):
“Those who used this tragic case to slander the Ministry of Citizen Protection,
the government as a whole and the Greek Police owe an apology”
Theodorikakos does not owe an apology but a resignation.
He set up election fraud around the unsolved Carivaz murder,
announcing the arrest of culprits acquitted by the court.
It didn’t happen again, like many other things with the Mitsotakis government.
