Kyriakos Mitsotakis / He was annoyed when a Financial Times journalist started praising Tsipras

Alexis Tsipras remains within striking distance while in Brussels they speak positively about him, said the managing editor of the Financial Times, Peter Spiegel

Discussion with the managing editor of Financial Timesresponsible for North and South America, Peter SpiegelKyriakos Mitsotakis had on the sidelines of the 8th Delphi Economic Forum.

The prime minister once again tried to present one virtual reality on the situation in Greece, claiming among other things that “Greece has taken significant steps to reduce its debt. It brought investment, new jobs and growth helped to support households.” At the same time, he attacked SYRIZA – PS with the known liesclaiming that the official opposition is “handing out promises and money”.

At the same time, he did not hide his annoyance when the well-known journalist Peter Spiegel started talking about Alexis Tsipras, conveying the positive comments which are heard on Brussels for the president of SYRIZA – PS.

The well-known American journalist, among other things, stated that it is remarkable that Alexis Tsipras “took a party that almost didn’t exist”, reached the prime ministership and even though he lost in the previous elections, he remains today in “shooting distance”. Then Kyriakos Mitsotakis replied rather annoyed: “I wouldn’t say ‘shooting distance’” and stated that “I have said that I will never underestimate an opponent. Alexis Tsipras demonstrated political skills, but at the same time it was too much bad prime minister and it is my obligation to emphasize it”.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis went on to argue that the banks were closed because of SYRIZA which “cost us 100 billion euros. It is a fact. This has not changed, nor has Alexis Tsipras. History will be hard on him because he had one chance to take the country forward and he took it back.”

The well-known journalist of the Financial Times came back and emphasized that in Brussels they are now saying that Alexis Tsipras that took the country out of the memorandum and gave her access to international markets.

«They are lucky because they didn’t pay taxes in Greece, that’s why they call it that” replied Kyriakos Mitsotakis rather irritated.
