Kyrgios’ lawyers want to drop the tennis player’s charges for mental health reasons

Kyrgios’ attorney, Michael Kukulies-Smith, asked the Canberra court to adjourn the case to allow time to prepare a medical report on the tennis player’s mental health. The court agreed and adjourned the trial in February.

The case involves Kyrgios’ conflict with an ex-girlfriend. The 27-year-old tennis prodigy was supposed to appear in court in July, but the trial was postponed to August and then for another six weeks. Currently, the 20th ranked player in the world is participating in the Tokyo tournament.

The talented tennis player, known for his tantrums, revealed in February that he struggled with depression and substance abuse ahead of the 2019 Australian Open. After that, however, his life would take a turn for the best.
