A woman in her 40s who visited with her family said, “It was the first festival in Obon since my father died, so I was happy that the whole family was able to see it. The capital letters looked different than usual, I was very moved, and I was thinking of my father while I was looking at them.” he said.

According to the police, about 47,000 people visited the Gozan Okuribi festival this year, more than 20,000 more than last year.
