On the heels of her mega-hit “Padam Padam,” pop icon Kylie Minogue’s latest single, “Tension,” is already having queer fans in a spin, with some speculating the lyrics represent a dig at the TV star. reality Kylie Jenner.
After the ecstatic queer response to her heartbeat-inspired single “Padam Padam” which was credited as “saving pop”, fans were on the edge of their seats awaiting the next release of Kylie’s 16th studio album, also called Tension.
‘Tension’, released on Friday 1 September, is a bolder offering from the legendary Aussie hitmaker, with a gloriously sexy edge.
Much like “Padam,” “Tension” features a remix-ready electro-pop sound, with scorching lyrics including, “Don’t be shy, boy, I don’t bite / You know where, touch me good, your -ta / Oh my god, just touch me there.
“Touch me there, baby, break the tension,” Kylie sings in the chorus.
The official music video for ‘Tension’, which garnered half a million views in 24 hours, has fans amazed at the nods to Kylie’s previous looks across her five-decade career, such as her infamous showgirl era – as well as its ability to completely reinvent itself.
The single simply set the internet on fire, with fans taking to X and Instagram to share their adoration for Queen Kylie.
“She’s still eating, 36 year career mind you,” wrote one fan, while another commented, “Kylie Minogue is the most interesting pop star of 2023.”

Some fans have also speculated that “Tension” could include a potential dissent towards makeup mogul and reality TV personality Kylie Jenner, after the Les Kardashian The star attempted to drop her common first name in 2015.
Certain lines of “Tension” have sparked speculation online, including when the Australian pop icon sings: “Call me Kylie-lie-lie / Don’t imitate-ta-tate”.
To say “Tension” sent LGBTQ+ fans into a frenzy would be an understatement, and with two incredible singles now out, Kylie’s Tension this album is about to enter the history books.
The singer also unveiled the tracklist for her upcoming album yesterday, with titles including “10 out of 10” and “Things We Do for Love.”
Kylie Minogue’s 16th studio album, Tension, is set to be released on September 22.
