Kylian Mbappe has not yet made a decision about his future. 90min has now found out what PSG and Real Madrid’s offers for the French superstar look like.
Mbappe’s future remains open. There is a broad agreement, but Mbappe still has to give PSG the green light – in any case, the French will no longer increase their offer to extend the contract, which has been on the table for some time.
PSG are therefore increasingly pessimistic about their chances of keeping Mbappe. Marcus Rashford, Victor Osimhen, Benjamin Sesko and Rafael Leao are considered possible successors. But at PSG they also know that Mbappe can change his mind very quickly and quite unpredictably, which is why there is at least a small amount of hope left.
have sources 90min reveal that the PSG offer for Mbappe is 70 million euros gross per year. They would also agree to retroactively give Mbappe back his €80 million loyalty bonus, which he gave up last summer when he decided against an early extension.
PSG have also agreed that Mbappe will be allowed to take part in the 2024 Paris Olympics with France should he opt for an extension; the tournament begins at the end of July and ends in mid-August. With Euro 2024 also taking place this summer, this means Mbappe will be away for almost three months, taking into account preparation for the tournament, matches and subsequent rest.
Real’s base offer for Mbappe is significantly lower than PSG’s. It should cover an annual salary of no more than 30 million euros, plus a signing bonus of 130 million euros. Unlike PSG, Real has not yet given the superstar the green light to take part in the Olympics.
However, Madrid argue that there would be other bonuses and other commercial opportunities in addition to the basic salary if he played with them and not in France at PSG. Overall, the Madrilenians’ offer could be close to that of PSG or even more lucrative in the long term due to Mbappe’s individual earning potential.
It is possible that Mbappe is using PSG’s offer as leverage to try to increase the basic terms of Madrid’s offer, while he is also likely to wait to see whether other Premier League clubs enter the race for his signature – Arsenal and Liverpool have recently been linked with a move in the English press, although both clubs have played down any talks.
It is still most likely that he will move to Madrid – but that was already thought at the Santiago Bernabeu in 2022, before Mbappe made a surprising U-turn and signed a new contract with PSG. For this reason, Real President Florentino Perez has pushed negotiations forward in order to reach an agreement sooner rather than later, which is why there could ideally be clarity in the coming weeks.
