Kylian Mbappe may have lost respect in the locker room Paris Saint Germain. Mbappe only got one vote in the PSG captain’s vote for this season.
PSG held a squad captain election under Luis Enrique on Tuesday (22/8/2023). The candidates are Marquinhos, Danilo Pereira, Presnel Kimpembe, Marco Verratti and Mbappe.
New captain voting result The Parisians stated, Marquinhos is still trusted to lead his colleagues on the field. The Brazilian defender has been wearing the PSG captain’s armband since 2020, after the death of Thiago Silva.
Meanwhile Kylian Mbappe only get a single vote in the voting. According to reports RMC Sport, the only vote for Mbappe was cast by Achrafi Hakimiwho is also his close friend.
However, the French football superstar still has the opportunity to captain PSG. It’s just that Mbappe is at the bottom of the hierarchy after Marquinhos, Danilo and Kimpembe.
PSG’s internal situation is not ideal because of the dispute between Kylian Mbappe and club bosses. Mbappe has refused to extend his contract, which expires in the summer of 2024 in order to leave for free where he is believed to have already struck a deal to join Real Madrid.
Mbappe heated things up when he called PSG a “divided club” in the middle of pre-season. A number of PSG players were reportedly unhappy, and in the process Mbappe was frozen. However, Mbappe nevertheless returned to play and scored a penalty in a 1-1 draw at home to Toulouse last weekend.
