Kylian Mbappe is “in disagreement” with the use of his image for the campaign of subscribers of the Paris Saint-Germain for the next season, explained the footballer on his Instagram account.
“At no time was I informed of the content of the interview with my interlocutor”wrote the Parisian star after having seen the promotional campaign in which he is the star.
“It seemed like a basic meeting in a club marketing day. I don’t agree with this published video,” he added.
“This is the reason why I fight for individual image rights. PSG is a great club and a great family, but it is not Kylian Saint-Germain,” he concluded.
Mbappé is the only one to speak in the promotional film for the subscription campaign for the 2023-2024 season, which does not include the other Parisian megastars, Lionel Messi, who could leave the club at the end of his contract in June, nor Neymar, injured.
Up-and-coming Parisians Warren Zaire-Emery, Ismaël Gharbi and Ilyes Housni, as well as Portugal international Nuno Mendes, are featured in the video clip, as is the stadium’s outfielder.
Filmed in the stands of the Parc des Princes, he talks about the fans. “The number 12 player is the one who gives us extra strength to face the battles,” says Mbappé. “To be Parisian, is to be proud, of what we are, of what we represent (…) and never forget where we come from.”
Contacted, PSG had not reacted on Thursday afternoon. Kylian Mbappé had already taken a position to defend the individual image rights of the internationals of the French team.
