A recently published advertising video by Paris Saint-Germain caused sharp criticism from the world star Kylian Mbappe – and brings further unrest in the club.
With a promotional video, PSG wanted to encourage fans to buy a season ticket. It featured Kylian Mbappé as an advertising face, with excerpts from an interview and game scenes from the 24-year-old.
This caused a lot of trouble for Mbappé himself, which caused him to make a statement via Instagram reported to speak. “At no time was I informed of the content of the interview. I do not agree with this published video. That’s why I’m fighting for the rights to the single image,” the Frenchman rumbled.
The main point of criticism is that no other Parisian player can really be seen in this video, although with Lionel Messi and Neymar at least two other world stars play in the French capital. “PSG is a big club and a family, but above all it’s not Kylian Saint Germain,” Mbappé reminded his club.
Mbappé was either not interested in being the center of attention. Or maybe he’s just upset that he wasn’t asked for permission to use the clippings for the campaign.
A few weeks ago there was trouble when it came to a photo shoot with the French national team. It was also about Mbappé’s image rights, which is why he did not want to take part in the shoot.
The PSG video has already been deleted from all possible platforms after the player’s statement. However, the club has not yet released a statement.
