Kylian Mbappé Controversy: A War Over Image Rights with the FFF

Eager to keep control of his image rights, Kylian Mbappé sparked a controversy in the France team. While a meeting would be scheduled, Philippe Diallo announced that he was ready to respond to the requests of the star of the Blues, but respecting a certain economic framework for the good of the FFF.

A war over image rights

According to information from RMC Sportdisclosed this Friday, Kylian Mbappé and Antoine Griezmann – captain and vice-captain of Blues – will meet Philippe Diallo, president of the FFF, to discuss the issue of image rights and try to find common ground in the coming days. Besides, Didier Deschamps felt at a press conference that it was important to discuss this topic: “This is part of one of the important files he has to manage. It’s not sensitive but it’s not simple because today’s reality is different. It’s important to have this dialogue and for things to move forward. Admittedly, slowly to your liking, but I am sure it will be sorted out”.

“We are ready to answer it but…”

At the general meeting of the FFF, Philippe Diallo dropped his truths on the issue of image rights, saying he was ready to make a gesture towards Kylian Mbappe and his teammates, but without harming the French football federation. “The question of image rights? We are ready to respond but within a framework that must preserve the economic model and the interests of the FFF. There can be no question of questioning this model, which means that all of our 14,000 clubs can receive significant aid. This question will have to be dealt with in the next few days. Modernize our agreement yes, but while preserving the interests of the FFF”explained the president of the FFF this Saturday. According to RMC Sport, an agreement would still be far from being reached between the parties.
