In the 2008/09 season, Giovani Dos Santos was loaned to Ipswich Towna team that then competed in the Championship. Coming from Tottenham Hotspurthe Mexican was looking for minutes after failing to establish himself in the Spurs. Despite the expectations surrounding his career, his time at Ipswich was brief, although he left a positive mark.
Dos Santos played only eight games, but his impact was notable, scoring four goals and providing one assist. His skill on the ball and his ability to create danger in the opposition area stood out, even if it was not enough to ensure him a longer stay in English football. After his time at Ipswich, Giovani continued his career as a football globetrotter.
Kyle Walkercurrent side of the Manchester Cityrecently recalled Dos Santos’ time in England, particularly when they both shared a dressing room at Tottenham Hotspur. “I played for Tottenham with Gio. He’s incredible, an incredible player. I had obviously heard about him because we are more or less the same age. When Tottenham signed him from Barcelona“I thought, ‘My God, how can Tottenham attract a young talent like this from Barcelona?'” Walker said.
Walker also added: “When he arrived, the things he could do with his foot… It was like Ronaldinhohe reminded me of Ronaldinho because of how he moved his legs, the band in his hair and all that. Obviously, things probably didn’t work out so well for him in the Premier League“But for me he was a top-level player,” said the defender.
