Kyle Sinckler: “It’s a dream to play for Toulon! » – RCT Blog

England international right wing Kyle Sinckler started his adventure with his new club: Rugby Club Toulonnais.

Arriving at the RCT this summer from Bristol, the England international spoke through RCT Play.

He expressed his great joy at being able to defend the colors of Toulon.

He says that playing for Toulon is making his dream come true. Section:

“I’m very happy. It’s an honor to be able to play for a club as prestigious as Toulon. I’m over the moon to be here, it’s a dream come true. I can’t wait to wear this shirt and to be able to represent this club. For me, it has always been a dream to play in Toulon.

When I was little, I grew up watching players like Jonny Wilkinson, Carl Hayman, Bakkies Botha, Sébastien Bruno, Fernandez Lobbe, Sébastien Tillous-Borde, Matt Giteau…

Many big names have passed here with great success. And I knew I wanted to be part of this club at some point in my career. Obviously, with the laws in England, I can’t play for the selection at the moment. But I had to follow my heart and that’s something I’ve always wanted to do.

I’ve talked to a lot of guys. I remember several times after matches in France talking to Charles Ollivon. Obviously also by David Ribbans. I also spoke to Gaël Fickou, Cameron Woki, Virimi Vakatawa, everyone who played in France before.

I have always tried to learn and wonder what it is like. I did my best, as soon as I knew I was coming to Toulon. I took a French teacher and learned as much as I could. But it is very different from studying with a teacher. When you arrive in France, it is very different. I know I will get there, slowly but surely. »

He then spoke about the very powerful front lines of the Top 14 and in particular the French team.

He says he is coming to play in the Top 14 to improve and be able to improve with and against very big front lines. Section:

“For me, it’s probably one of the best, if not the best front row in the world. Especially in my position as a prop, no matter who we play and which team, they’re all going to have a good front line and that’s the reason I wanted to come to the Top 14. To be able to face on the best every week and be part of an amazing pack like the one in Toulon. So yes, it is very exciting for me even though I know it will be difficult.

I have spoken to the guys who have been doing this for years. And it’s very different from what I’m used to, especially in terms of physical intensity and the number of games. But it’s something I can’t wait to find out and I’ll get there. »

In the end, Kyle Sinckler says he is looking forward to playing with Toulon at Stade Mayol. Section:

“I saw clips on social media. And just the short time I’ve spent here so far, in Toulon you can tell that people love rugby. I was in Carqueiranne and the butcher ran after me to give me a hug and go Toulon! It’s good! We have to make sure we win, you know?

When I was 18, I played for Harlequins and we played Toulon in the quarter final of the Challenge Cup. I was only a reserve and had no chance to play. But I remember sitting on the bench and seeing this feeling, the Pilou Pilou. It will be a dream come true.

But obviously with this momentum, there is also expectation among the supporters. It’s a really big club. You’re expected to win so that’s the aim and I’m here to give my best and help this club win every week. »
