Kyklos Theatre: “Kyra Vasiliki” for two performances – 2024-02-18 17:36:39

After her successful summer performances at the Missiou Mansion, the Theodoros Papagiannis Museum of Contemporary Art and Igoumenitsa, where she received the warmest applause from the audience, “Kyra-Vasiliki” returns to the Kyklos Theater for two Sundays in February!

Sofia Zisi performs the title role, while Georgia Karlatira holds the directorial baguette of the said historical performance, which will be on stage on February 4 and 11 at 8:00 p.m. at the theater at Aravantinou 14.

Tickets cost 10 euros for the regular and 8 euros for the reduced.

A few words about the show:

During those years “where they were overshadowed by horror and teased by slavery” we know that there were cases of people who did not surrender to their fate. Kyra Vasiliki, who was Ali Pasha’s official wife, also appeared to be like this. An almost mythical creature where she managed to climb up and prevail on his side. After all, she was, if not the richest, one of the richest women during the Ottoman Empire. Always respecting her opinion on management and policy matters. She maintained close relations with the Patriarchate and built churches even though she was Pasha’s wife. He saved many from the knife. It is certain that even after the end of Ali she would have given us great examples of her worth and intelligence but unfortunately she left early. So we couldn’t help but deal with such an exceptional case of a woman wanting to pay tribute to her and to so many other female figures who unfortunately passed into the fine print of history.
