1:50 pm: Reduced metro frequency in Kharkiv to save electricity

In the Ukrainian capital Kiev, Mayor Vitali Klischko urged companies, shops, cafes and restaurants to “save as much as possible” on electricity consumption on lighting and illuminated advertising. “Even small savings within each household will help stabilize the country’s energy system,” he added on social media.

In the Ivano-Frankivsk region of the West, significant restrictions have been imposed on 20 particularly energy-intensive companies on Thursdays and Fridays. A local electricity supplier also called on residents in a statement to “minimize” the use of their appliances.

The same restrictions have been adopted in the regions of Lviv and Chernivtsi (west) by the electricity distribution companies, without however applying “to the essential infrastructures of the region”. In Kharkiv, in the north-east, the subway authority has announced that it will reduce the frequency of trains to save electricity.
