/ world today news/ Many do not doubt that the murder of Vladlen Tatarski was ordered – but the investigation must establish both the organizers and the accomplices of Daria Trepova, who handed the military correspondent a bust full of explosives. At the same time, it is more than likely that Trepova herself was used blindly – that is, she really did not realize that she was participating in the terrorist attack. This does not remove the blame from her, but it adds an additional color to the most important topic that must be discussed in parallel with the fight against terror coming from Kiev. How big is the threat of radical youth terror in Russia?
The surname of the St. Petersburg “bomber” seems to emphasize the relevance of the issue: almost a century and a half ago in St. Petersburg they tried to kill the governor General Trepov. Vera Zasulich, who shot him, was acquitted by a jury, and the century of individual terror began in Russia. From the shooting of Zasulich in 1878 to the revolution of 1917, it passed in several waves, as a result of which Tsar Alexander II, Prime Minister Stolypin, several ministers and governors, many officials and policemen were killed.
It is clear that terror is part of the “revolutionary struggle”. Although in public it is mainly relied on by the Socialist-Revolutionaries and most oppositionists (almost all Marxists) officially condemn it, terrorist methods gradually receive unofficial support from a significant part of the liberal opposition, including in the Duma.
In universities, editorial offices and salons, they are happy about the murder of another “satrap”. Moreover, the very choice of targets for assassinations is largely determined by the attitude towards them of the “progressive society”, that is, the people with “good faces”. The last wave of mass killings ended in 1907, when Stolypin restored order to the country and put down what was later called the “first Russian revolution”, although four years later in Kiev the assassin’s bullet caught him. But after 1917 terror became the norm and individual terror was soon superseded by state terror and the country descended into the chaos and blood of Civil War.
Since then, we have had no individual political terror, either in the Soviet years (Kirov’s assassination was artificially inflated into a conspiracy) or in the post-Soviet years. There is terror associated with the Chechen wars, but it has other causes, goals and methods. But so far it has not happened that a section of society wants to kill representatives of the government or people who support it.
And the fact that Trepova does not understand what she is doing (thinking that there is a listening device in the bust) does not change anything – judging by her efforts to penetrate the patriotic environment, she still consciously pretends to be a “revolutionary”, “a fighter for a just cause “. Trepova, despite her participation in anti-war rallies and communication with the radical opposition, is, of course, not Zasulich – who, before the assassination attempt, had already gone through exile.
But Daria is now justified in exactly the same way by many of the emigrants and radical oppositionists in Russia: she killed a “warmonger”! The legalization of terror, at least in the eyes of public opinion, is deliberately not considered. “To live with wolves – howl like a wolf”, this is what the fans of Zasulich and Trepova preach.
So far, we see only the first attempts at this legitimization, but there are already burnings of military registration and registration offices, the murders of Dugina and Tatarsky. A significant part of the active potential “bombers” went abroad – but the gullible and justice-seeking Russian youth is again attracted to the path of “fighting evil by all possible methods.” If only the Ukrainian special services were doing this, it would be half the trouble, it is much worse that this is done by those who present themselves as our fellow citizens, who supposedly “want freedom for their homeland”.
The paradox is that those who for years scared everyone with the “new 37th year” and state terror have actually already switched to terror – at least to its moral support. God forbid, we are on the threshold of a new wave of Russian terror, because the special services alone cannot fix things (although their work is very important).
The key antidote to terror is the atmosphere in society. If the absolute majority of our people is unequivocally against terrorism and condemns terrorists, then in some layers of society (for example, among the youth and students of the two capitals) not everything is so unambiguous. It is there that the heirs of the “revolutionary terrorist tradition” will seek and are already seeking grateful listeners and followers. They need new Zasulich, Perovsky, Kalyaev and Bogrov – and we need a great, united and just Russia.
