Kvitova reaches the semi-finals / Day of the French Open for the first time in eight years

Lauri Sīgemundi from Germany (WTA 66) convincingly won the 11th and seventh number of the tournament in the quarterfinals of Kvitova with 6-3, 6-3.

Kvitova last reached the semi-finals of the “French Open” in 2012. Eight years ago, she gave way to the famous Maria Sharapova in the semifinals, who later also celebrated the victory in the tournament.

“The quarterfinals of Grand Slam tournaments are always difficult,” Kvitova said after the victory. “I got one break in the first set, but there was no shortage in the second. I’m glad I managed to keep the serve and win.”

In the semi-finals, Kvitova will have to compete with the winner of the pair of Sofia Kenina and Daniel Collins.

It is already known that in the second semi-final, the qualified Argentine player Nadja Podoroska and the unsown Polishwoman Iga Švjonteka will meet.

The first number from Australia’s Ashley Barthy, the new “US Open” champion Naomi Osaka from Japan, as well as the talented Canadian Bianka Andresu will not start in the women’s competition in the French Open this season.

The Roland Garros tournament was due to take place this year from May 25 to June 7, but in mid-March it was moved to autumn and is the last Grand Slam of the season.

The tournament takes place on clay.
