Czech tennis stars Petra Kvitová and Karolína Plíšková will compete together in the first round of the clay tournament in Stuttgart. The heroine of the qualifying match between Billie Jean King and Britain, Markéta Vondroušová, was awarded a lot at the beginning of the competition by Tunisian Ons Džabúrová.
The former winners of the Stuttgart tournament, Kvitová and Plíšková, will run into each other after more than three years. The last time they played against each other was the Champions Tournament in 2018 in Singapore, where Plíšková defeated a two-time Wimbledon winner in two sets. Kvitová, who also won their only clay match in Madrid four years ago, leads the mutual balance on the WTA circuit.
The number one player in the world in Stuttgart is the first player in the world, Polka Iga Šwiateková, who has not found a winner in 19 matches.
Nikola Bartůňková will make her WTA circuit premiere in Istanbul. The 16-year-old Czech tennis player will present herself in a wild card competition. He will have a qualified player as an opponent.
