“It is with great sadness and sorrow that we – the Kuwaiti people, the Arab and Islamic nations and the friendly peoples of the world – mourn the death of His Highness the Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, who passed on to his master today,” Minister Mohammed Abdullah Al Sabah said .
In November, the emir was hospitalized due to an urgent health problem. The causes of his death are not being disclosed at this time.

Nawaf al-Ahmed took the oath of office in September 2020. The government appointed him as the new emir after the death of Sheikh Sabah’s half-brother Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in the United States at the age of 91.
Before becoming emir, Nawaf al-Ahmed held various positions in the civil service. In particular, he was the Minister of Defense, Internal Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister. In 2006, he received the title of Crown Prince of Kuwait.
