Opportunity Indonesian National team pass to Asian Cup 2023 increasingly wide open after Kuwait lost 0-3 to Jordan at the Jaber Al-Ahmad Stadium, Kuwait City, Wednesday (15/6) early morning WIB.
Kuwait was defeated because of goals scored by Ali Olwan in the 62nd minute, Mahmoud Al-Mardi (89′), and Noor Al Rawabdeh in second half injury time.
Jordan could actually have won by more than three goals. But the finishing that was not too good made only one goal that could be created.
This negative result made Kuwait fail to advance to the finals of the 2023 Asian Cup. This was because Al-Azraq only finished third in Group A of the 2023 Asian Cup Qualification standings.
The top position in Group A is occupied by Jordan, who swept three wins. Meanwhile, the second position belongs to the Indonesian national team, which is superior to head to head over Kuwait.
Despite occupying the second position, the Indonesian national team has not yet qualified for the 2022 Asian Cup. The Red and White Team needs a minimum of a draw against Nepal to hold the last ticket to the finals.
Shin Tae Yong’s squad currently occupies the most distended position in the standings of the five best runners-up for the 2023 Asian Cup Qualification. Fachruddin Aryanto and his friends are behind the Philippines, which is in fifth position.
The Philippines has collected four points from 3 matches that have been played or only one point ahead of the Indonesian national team. The Azkals’ goal difference is also bad as they only scored one goal and conceded four goals.
The Indonesian national team can certainly step into the 2023 Asian Cup if they achieve a draw with any score against Nepal. But just looking for a draw will be very dangerous for the Indonesian national team when they meet Nepal who will appear loose in the match later.
