The move follows a new law passed by the Kuwaiti Parliament in May, which prohibits Kuwaiti nationals and expatriate residents from visiting Israel and prohibits expressions of support for Israel.

In the same month, the Czech Ambassador to Kuwait, Martin Dvorak was summoned after expressing support online for Israel when the Zionist military carried out air strikes in Gaza, Palestine. He later issued an apology for the post.

Kuwait maintains a consistent stance against normalizing relations with Israel.

Last year after the Abrahamic Treaty was signed between Israel and the Gulf states; The United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, 37 members of the Kuwaiti Parliament urged their governments to condemn the move.

Yesterday, Hisham Qasim, Hamas spokesman in Gaza welcomed Kuwait’s new law.

He also called on other countries to follow the same approach as Kuwait by restricting Israeli trade and maritime traffic.
