1166 people voted for Kaganovskaya, and 940 people voted for the second applicant, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Technology Igor Girku. 84 voters did not support any candidate.
Kaganovskaya congratulated Since being elected, a former university lecturer, and now the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Irina Venediktova. She noted that for the first time in the history of Karazin University it will be headed by a woman.
“This fragile woman knows how to lead, win, despite everything, and carries great potential”, – Venediktova described the new head of the Karazin Kharkiv National University.
Kaganovskaya – born in 1975, daughter of a well-known politician (former Kharkiv mayor and head of the region, head of the Presidential Administration) Yevgeny Kushnarev. Graduated from the Yaroslav the Wise National Academy of Legal Sciences, Doctor of Law, Professor, Honored Lawyer of Ukraine. She was a deputy of the Kharkov city council.
Leads the Faculty of Law of the Karazin Kharkiv National University for the last 17 years, since the restoration of the Faculty of Law in the structure of the university in 2004.
Kharkiv National University is one of the oldest universities in Eastern Europe, celebrated on the university website. Founded in November 1804 on the initiative of the educator Vasily Karazin. Three Nobel Prize winners studied and worked there – biologist Ilya Mechnikov, economist Semyon Kuznets, physicist Lev Landau. Over the years of its existence, more than 130 thousand people have graduated from the university. It is noted that many other higher educational institutions of Kharkov originate from it. Now, KhNU has 21 faculties, where about 16 thousand students and listeners, 400 post-graduate students study, and up to 1500 teachers and researchers work. The university includes research institutes of chemistry, biology, astronomy.
The fact that Doctor of Sociological Sciences Vil Bakirov, who held the post of rector of KhNU for more than 20 years, plans to leave his post, became known on February 22 – he announced his decision during a meeting of the Academic Council of the university, reported on the university website. Bakirov explained that in total, over time, the positions of dean and first vice-rector are “almost 30 years of administrative work, which in itself has never been a source of happiness and inspiration, has always stimulated the dream of working as a professor someday.”
Four candidates applied for the post of rector – in the first round, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Dean of the Faculty of Physics Ruslan Vovk and Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Dean of the Faculty of Radiophysics Sergei Shulga dropped out.
