Kurt Nilsen’s Christmas tour received too much money

In total, more than 1.8 billion was allocated from the Ministry of Culture’s stimulus scheme to the corona-affected cultural sector, writes VG.

The stimulation scheme was used, among other things, to carry out events that were affected by restrictions on the number of spectators as a result of infection control rules.

The Norwegian Cultural Council has asked at least 360 applicants to pay money back, shows an overview VG has received from the Cultural Council.

One of them is Kurt Nilsen, who through the company Tune-In AS where Nilsen is part owner, got 13.3 million to complete the Christmas tour in 2020. When the accounts were settled, it turned out that Tune-In AS had to give up 1, 74 million of the amount they were first allocated.

– We had to apply per budget, on what we assumed it would be, before everything was implemented. Then we had to report later how it actually turned out, says Jan Fredrik Karlsen, general manager of Tune-In and Nilsen’s manager to VG.

A total of 137.4 million has been deducted from the stimulation scheme – ie about 7 percent of the total amount.
