Künzelsau – After the Corona outbreak in one of the four logistics centers of the tool trading giant Würth, the company relies on its own system with rapid tests. This would mean that the employees of all four centers would be tested by trained first aiders at least once a week. In “focus areas” this should happen several times a week, as the company announced on Tuesday. The employees should remain isolated in the test room until the result is received.
The State Health Office in Stuttgart had previously announced that around 40 employees had tested positive for the corona virus. When checking in the laboratory, it was initially found in three cases that it was the even more contagious corona mutation from Great Britain. A Würth spokeswoman had told the newspaper that far-reaching steps had been taken and that around 1000 logistics employees had been subjected to rapid tests. The corona cases were almost exclusively concentrated in a single logistics center. The operation could continue. Nevertheless, a strict safety and hygiene concept is applied in all logistics areas. This included temperature measurements at the entrance gates, a permanent mask requirement on the logistics site and at all workplaces within logistics and in offices.
“The health of our employees has absolutely top priority”, Norbert Heckmann, spokesman for the management, is quoted in a message. As the company announced on Tuesday, the responsible authorities were informed immediately after the infections became known. Würth also helps with further contact tracking of affected employees. They had been isolated, and the contact persons were now living in quarantine at home. “The people who tested positive showed no symptoms at the time of the rapid test,” it says.
