Kunnamkulam: Govt. The second phase of renovation of the senior ground under Model Boys School has started. Activities to awaken the sports dreams of the students are done on the ground near the synthetic track. It had also received an administrative sanction of Rs 69.83 lakh.
The second phase consists of leveling the field, construction of soft layer on the ground with a thickness of 15 cm, dirt road, fencing at a height of eight meters to prevent the ball from going out, and pitch for cricket practice. Once the works are completed, the mud football field will be ready. Cricket training will also be facilitated. Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Volleyball etc can also be played. It can also be used as a training ground for athletes when big competitions are held on the synthetic track. Bathani school ground was used for training during the State School Sports Festival. This ground was also used as a restaurant.
The ground used by the driving school and the motor vehicle department was reclaimed with much effort. A.C. Under the leadership of Moiteen MLA, the surrounding wall of the field was built at a cost of 42 lakh rupees.
