Actor Kundera Johnny, who left a mark of love on the hearts of Malayalis through his villainous roles and character roles that shook the hero, gave a farewell to Kollam. He was buried in a specially prepared grave at St. Anthony’s Church Cemetery, Kanjirakode at 5.30 pm on Thursday. Kollam Bishop Paul Antony Mullashery officiated the funeral ceremonies which started at 3.30. Minor Seminary Rector Fr. Vincent D’Cruz, Fr. Binu Thomas assisted. After the services at home, the body was brought to the church as a mourning procession at 2.30. His wife Stella, sons Ashima J. Catherine, Aarav and other relatives gave him a final kiss.
Thousands of film, social and cultural personalities and fans also came on Thursday to pay their last respects to Kundara Johnny, who passed away on Tuesday night. Ministers KN Balagopal, J Chinchurani, MLAs Sujith Vijayanpilla, M Naushad, Mayor Prasanna Ernst, Zilla Panchayat Member B Jayanthi, CPI-M State Committee Member P Rajendran, Kundera Area Secretary SL Sajikumar, Film Director Ranji Panicker and Actors Spathikam George. , Baiju, Film Producers Association Secretary B Ragesh, Producer G Suresh Kumar and others reached the house in Kundera Kuttipuram and paid their last respects.
Kundera Johnny died of a heart attack at a private hospital in Kollam on Tuesday night at 9.30 pm. On Wednesday, the body was kept for public viewing at Kadapakkada Sports Club, Kollam’s Kankathamuk flat and Kundera Fine Arts Society. Johnny’s last public performance was the concluding convocation of the Silver Jubilee Anniversary of the Fine Arts Association on August 15, which was attended by Minister Saji Cherian.
