I suggested that the state of emergency last until May 15, said the chief state health inspector

“The incidence is low and the trend is good. We all hope this is the end of the pandemic. But it’s not, for sure. Ending the pandemic is a big mistake. We will be foolish if we behave in such a way as to return the morbidity to high levels, to fill the hospitals again and to be forced to return to the introduction of new measures. ” This was commented in the program “Drive straight” by the Chief State Health Inspector Assoc. Prof. Angel Kunchev. He explained that the victims of the pandemic in our country so far are over 36,500.

According to him, at the moment in Bulgaria and the whole of Eastern Europe the situation is good. But what is happening in Western Europe is worrying.

“I, as the Chief State Health Inspector and the Ministry as such, submitted as a draft decision the extension of this situation until May 15,” explained Assoc. Prof. Kunchev. However, it was not fatal that it was not extended.

According to him, the low percentage of vaccinated in our country could be the reason for a more serious situation in the fall. He reiterated that there should be a campaign for the benefits of vaccination.

Regarding the virus that is currently circulating, Assoc. Prof. Kunchev explained that it is not to be underestimated – with high fever, abrupt onset, lasts 2-3 days. However, he does not believe there will be a high wave of the epidemic. Currently, most patients are in big cities.

Assoc. Prof. Kunchev does not believe that the situation with refugees will create serious risks to public health in Bulgaria. “Last year, 200,000 to 300,000 tourists came from Ukraine. The fact that they are now coming as refugees does not radically change the situation “, explained Assoc. Prof. Kunchev.
