In the 2023 LCK Spring Split PO round 2 held at Jonggak Lol Park on the 25th, T1 won 3:2 and advanced to the upper round after a wonderful match against kt Rolster. In the middle of winning and losing each other, the last 5 sets were also very unfavorable from the beginning, but T1 did not give up until the end and concentrated and succeeded.
Below is the full text of the interview with T1 ‘Kumayushi’ Min-hyeong.
Q. First of all, congratulations on your victory. What is your overall opinion of today’s game?
I came to the stadium comfortably. I expected an easy win, but it was a bit tougher than I thought, and I need to prepare better for the next match.
Q. What do you feel is the biggest difference between kt Rolster you met in the regular season and today’s kt Rolster?
Overall movement has definitely improved, and I felt that I was good at teamfighting. I definitely felt stronger, and I wondered how other teams would have been different.
Q. The bottom pressure was amazing today. In particular, in the first and second sets, you had a complete advantage from the beginning. Were you confident in creating such a composition?
At the time of the first set, it went according to our pick and design. In the second set, he noticed whether the opponent was nervous or made a mistake, and led to a good atmosphere. Originally, it’s an advantageous composition, but I think it’s about 9:1 if you look at the pure 2:2 line battle as an early advantage.
Q. The 2nd set, it was a game that was quite advantageous, but when you were chasing the opponent, you entered a little forcefully and gave it a chance. What if we look back at the situation?
I think I did well when I first crossed the wall in teamfighting. There was also a call that said it was over because there was a level 18 Kassadin, but now that I think about it, I was a little excited.
Q. The last 5 sets were a confrontation where the outcome was unknown until the end. It was that fierce, what do you think was the secret to winning in such a confrontation?
The opponent is a combination that is advantageous in the early stages, and we are a combination that can create teamfights and variables, so I think we made good use of the combination.
Q. All of you were selected for the LCK First Team, and you are overcoming a crisis like today. It is the best position, but it seems that T1 is gradually developing. I’ve been working with my teammates for a long time, and I’m curious about where the players actually feel that they are becoming a better team.
I think it’s hard to keep climbing consistently. It doesn’t feel much better than last year, but I think it’s important to keep doing it and get even a little better.
Q. Many players and coaching staff talk about concentration a lot. In particular, it is one of the most important factors when entering a multi-premise tournament. Do you have any special training or know-how for this?
I usually play 3 scrims and take a break, and there are few cases where I digest all of the bo5, so concentration becomes more important. To that end, I exercise on a daily basis, and rather than training to show concentration even when I am tired, I am training to become accustomed to being able to concentrate even when I am tired.
Q. Lastly, please say something to your fans.
There are things that kt Rolster did well, but there are many things that we didn’t do well. In the next game, I think if I don’t perform well, I might lose. I will make up for it well and focus on winning.
