Ethnomusic festival in Valmiermuiža
On June 18, the second day of the international ethno music festival will take place in Valmiermuiža Park, gathering outstanding musicians and groups on two stages.
The culmination of the festival will be the new program “Sit, Jānīti!” By the bagpipe and drum group “Auļi”. world premiere, to be announced by the ritual of lighting a fire sculpture created by the Spanish artist Jordi NN accompanied by the Estonian sound artist Silver Sepp.
Before that, in the afternoon, starting at 3.30 pm, the festival’s visitors will be surprised by the innovative Polish ladies’ trio “Sutari” with graters and knife sharpeners, the domestic virtuoso “Arcandela”, the musical band “Rahu the Fool”, dark folk and country band “Juuk”, postfolk groups “TKP” (Julgi Stalte, Erik Zeps and friends), “Laiksne”, “Ududu” and Ukrainian bandurist Darya Leleko. At the end of the festival, a novelty is expected – ethno-disco, where under the direction of Dīva Reiznieks and Kaspars Zaviļeisks, traditional music will intertwine with modern rhythms.
During the day, along with musical enjoyment, there will also be a rich offer of home producers and an extensive program of master classes for young and old. There will be a theater performance “Kaka un pavasaris”, as well as a cinema tent, where you will be able to watch Latvian films “Baltic Tribes” and “Witch” in the evening.
“The Sound Poets” on the stage of Sigulda castle ruins
On the stage of Sigulda castle ruins on Saturday, June 18, groups will take place “The Sound PoetsThis is the second of the band ‘s two major concerts announced this summer.
“I don’t remember the last time we would have waited so long for a concert in the band, as we expect to perform in Sigulda on June 18,” says Jānis Aišpurs, a soloist at The Sound Poets, adding that the first concert of the new album “At One Fire” in Liepaja Blow wind!” was like a “refreshing rain after a long heat”.
The concert in Sigulda, as well as in Liepāja, will be performed by the young Latvian singer Būū as a special guest before “The Sound Poets”, while during the group concert, the audience will be delighted by guests such as Aija Andrejeva and others.
Entrance to the concert area from 7 pm, the concert starts at 8 pm. The event will last until approximately 11 pm.
“Flower. Bear. Men”
The program “Flower. Bear. Men” created by composer Kārlis Lāčs will be performed at Daile Theater on June 18 and 19.
Both concerts will feature songs from the composer Kārlis Lāčs’ album of the same name, written especially for each performer. Intars Busulis, Jānis Šipkēvics, Jānis Aišpurs, Artūrs Skrastiņš, Kaspars Znotins and Andris Keišs will take part in the concerts.

Exhibition “Let it grow!”
From June 11 to July 10, both buildings of the Latvian Academy of Arts, Kronvalda boulevard 4 and Kalpaka boulevard 13, will be open for the whole of 2021/2022. diploma theses of graduates of the Latvian Academy of Arts (LAA).
The exhibition will feature the creative process of more than 180 young artists. This will be a unique opportunity to see the works of graduates of all sub-branches of the Latvian Academy of Arts together, offering the public an overview of the Academy’s activities, news and challenges, and promoting the presentation of artists to the arts and the general public.
Exhibitions “Let it germinate!” The exposition will be on display in two LMA buildings: the former Faculty of Biology of the University of Latvia, which has now become a full-fledged part of the Academy of Arts, and the LMA historic building on Kalpaka Boulevard 13.. experiments by young artists and, of course, education.
The exhibition will be complemented by various pilot projects – the doors of the exhibition will be opened to the visitors of the LMA practical doctoral studies and the interdisciplinary Master of Arts specialization POST study rooms, where, in addition to graduate works, the best LMA students will be able to see their work. In a special way – the graduates of the Art Science Department will also represent themselves in the exhibition of photo animation collages.
