Kulhanek called for closer cooperation in the fight against terrorism and warming at the UN

According to Kulhánek, the threat of terrorism in the world has not abated. The international community must join forces to avert a humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan and continue to fight terrorism.

“The Taliban must guarantee safe and smooth access to the entire territory of Afghanistan to all humanitarian workers and UN officials, including women,” said Kulhanek, who recalled that the Czech Republic is fighting Islamic radicals in Mali.

“The Czech Republic is concerned about the constant mass repression in Belarus,” the Czech Foreign Minister said in New York. He expressed support for the territorial integrity of Ukraine and Georgia.

“We also condemn the state-sponsored sabotage activities that have become in Europe in recent years as unacceptable, illegal and contrary to all UN principles,” said Kulhánek, who added that the Czech Republic had experienced these activities “first-hand”.

He also called on states to work more closely together to ensure that modern technologies do not become a means of controlling and oppressing the population.

“The weight of cyberspace in people’s lives is increasing, but attacks on cyber infrastructures are also growing,” said the Czech Foreign Minister. “Ensuring secure and accessible cyberspace is one of today’s challenges,” he added.

Climate protection and the fight against coronavirus

Kulhánek called the UN climate summit to be held in Glasgow in November a key one.

According to Kulhánek, the covidu-19 pandemic showed how interconnected the global world is and how important international cooperation is. “Unfortunately, the covidu-19 pandemic has accelerated negative trends in human rights.”

The pandemic has also shown the importance of the World Health Organization (WHO), which should learn from the epidemic as it changes.

According to Kulhánek, the key to success in all these areas lies in strong cooperation between states and adherence to international rules. According to him, humanity has shown that it is “capable of great success” when it can cooperate.

Kulhánek flew to New York on Sunday. In the previous days, the Minister of Foreign Affairs had a number of meetings with his counterparts and also met with important members of the Czech community in the USA.
