Dmitry Kuleba and Annalena Berbock discussed a settlement in Donbass and agreed on a position on Nord Stream 2.

Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba held the first telephone conversation with the newly appointed Federal Foreign Minister of Germany, Annalena Berbock. About it informs Ukrainian diplomatic department on Monday, December 13.

“The head of Ukrainian diplomacy spoke about the current security situation along the state border and in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, confirmed the commitment of our state to a politico-diplomatic settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian armed conflict,” the message says.

Kuleba stressed that Ukraine actively supports the efficient work of the Normandy format as an important platform for negotiations. He thanked Germany, which, together with France, is making efforts to bring Russia back to the negotiating table.

“We highly appreciate that the coalition agreement of the new German government gives priority to restoring peace in our state. We are constructively determined to move forward within the framework of the peace process, which should start with security issues. further progress in the political part of the Minsk agreements, “Kuleba said.

He also thanked Berbock for his clear position on the Nord Stream 2 issue. Ministers agreed that European energy legislation should apply to this project.

Berbock, in turn, assured her unwavering support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, readiness for joint work and the resumption of negotiations in the Normandy format.

The ministers agreed to intensify cooperation in the development of alternative energy sources, production and transportation of hydrogen, increasing trade and investment. Kuleba also expressed interest in restarting the equal dialogue between Ukraine and Germany on historical issues.

In conclusion, Kuleba invited Berbock to visit Ukraine next year.

On the eve of Annalena Berbock stated that gas pipeline SP-2 does not correspond to EU regulations and cannot be approved until it meets the requirements of the German regulator.

As you know, a month ago certification of SP-2 was stopped, since the operator Nord Stream 2 AG, headquartered in Switzerland, needs to register a subsidiary in Germany.
